Jelena Birmančević is a Junior Researcher and PhD student at the Department of Social Policy and Social Work at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Belgrade. She obtained her Master degree in Social Policy in 2019, defending her thesis on the subject “Living and working conditions of informal collectors of secondary raw materials”. Her scientific and research interests are anti-discriminative and anti-oppressive theoretical approaches, policies and practices, social exclusion, inequality and poverty of Roma national minority, as well as Roma inclusion. As a part of her doctoral dissertation, she addresses affirmative measures for Roma national minority in higher education in the Republic of Serbia.

Jelena has attended numerous workshops and seminars related to the topic of migrations. In 2019, she was engaged as a co-researcher in the study of the integration of migrants in Serbia and the problems they face in centers for asylum seekers.
