Panagiotis Paschalidis holds a PhD (2012, Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle) in Media and Communication. He has been a Research Fellow at the South-East Europe Programme of ELIAMEP since 2015. He has been an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki since 2017. He completed his post-doctoral research at the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki (2013-2015). His research interests include the study of media representations of the Balkan region and the countries of former Yugoslavia in the Greek and international media, the media representations and the public perceptions of Balkan countries in Greece as well as the media coverage of the migrant/ refugee crisis in Greece and the EU (2015- present day). He has participated as a researcher in two H2020 programmes (1. “RePast” which deals with the mediation and the collective memory of the troubled past in several European countries and 2. “MIGREC” which deals with the creation of a migration related research centre within the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Belgrade, Serbia).
