Violeta Marković obtained her Bachelor’s degree in social policy and social work at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Belgrade in 2013 and her Master’s Degree in social work at the same institution in 2016. In 2018, Violeta started her PhD studies in social policy and social work at the same Faculty. Since April 2019 she has been engaged at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Belgrade as a Junior Researcher.

During the period from 2016 until the end of 2019, Violeta was working as a project manager at the international humanitarian organization Jesuit Refugee Service, where she worked on the establishment of shelter for unaccompanied children from the refugee / migrant population. During this period, she has developed an interest in the migration and child protection which is also the focus of her interest in her doctoral dissertation.

Violeta has participated in a number of research projects from 2013 within the Center for Research in Social Policy and Social Work at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Belgrade. The researches focused on social care services for children in alternative care, children with disabilities, Roma families, children from the refugee / migrant population. Since 2019, she is a part of the project MIGREC – Center for Migration, Integration and Management Research which focuses on developing research capacity among migration scholars at the University of Belgrade in order to contribute to deepening understanding of the migration-related challenges confronting Serbia and the wider Western Balkan region. 

Areas of interest: migration, protection of refugee children, family support, children’s rights, child protection, protection of children and families at risk.
